Atrium Health and Best Buy Health partner for at-home care services
Tech giant meets health concerns for higher aging communities
While anti-aging products continue to fly off the shelves of online marketplaces and local retail stores, some retailers are looking at a bigger market — aging in itself. Urban Institute reports that the number of Americans ages 65 and older will more than double over the next 40 years, reaching 80 million in 2040. Even adults ages 85 and older are surviving and thriving longer, nearly quadrupling between 2000 and 2040.
But with an increasing aging market comes the need for either more senior living facilities or what far more seniors statistically want to do: age in place. Atrium Health, the self-entitled nation’s largest hospital-at-home provider, is teaming up with tech giant Best Buy to help improve access to technology needed for at-home care.
“We can bring forward things like remote patient monitoring and sophisticated wearable devices that capture their vital signs and combine it with the human touch—bringing it directly into our patients’ homes,” said Dr. Rasu Shrestha, executive vice president and chief innovation and commercialization officer for Advocate Health, in a recent news release.

And while Best Buy may have been known for large televisions, computers and home appliances, they’ve recently transitioned into Current Health from Best Buy Health. According to their website, Current Health assists in a wide range of tech-health needs, including continuous monitoring, connected devices, telehealth and other in-home service requests.
